Start Prayin’, Because on Sunday, It Looked Liked End Times A Comin’
Animals know it: a change in light or a vibration in the earth signals unusual, transitioning conditions. That’s what Mets catcher’s Kevin Plawecki’s ascent to the pitching mound seemed to be in Sunday’s final game of the week’s series against the Nationals, when combined with a wildly lopsided 23-5 score: things were ‘off’ in the atmosphere.
In a testament to how he richly he fulfills his natural potential, young Plawecki performed with excellent team spirit in the manner his youth coaches trained him : one perfect pitch after another in exactly the same location, with the finest — and perhaps redefining – esprit de corps. It was beautiful, in its own way.
Thursday, May 4 is the National Day of Prayer in the United States. Given fans’ – or anyone’s – need for moorings in changing times, May 4 is now also the National & Global Day of Prayer for the Mets.
Make it viral. On Thursday, post your prayers to FACEBOOK, TWITTER, your chosen social media, and blast your email contacts. Be sure to tag your location. Let’s Go Mets.
Or, just cross your fingers, put your hands together, bow your head and do it the old fashioned way. Let’s put the earth back on its axis and see our way through this valley of the 2017 Mets season with faith. You gotta believe.
Psalm 23 A Psalm of David
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
